If I’m being honest, launching an equestrian coaching business from scratch – where the “product” is your own knowledge and experience – is one of the most challenging and rewarding paths I have ever taken.
In a modern world of “video-first” content and social media trends, I have chosen a different route. As someone who stays behind the camera and leans into the written word, I have built Champion Equestrian Coaching on the belief that riders are looking for something more substantial: depth, verified expertise, and a horse-first approach.
A commitment to professional standards
As an Equestrian Coach, I believe that the learning journey for a professional should never stop. To ensure my clients receive the most up-to-date and safe instruction, I maintain a rigorous focus on professional development:
- Accredited Professional Coach: This reflects a commitment to the highest teaching standards, safeguarding, and a robust safety framework.
- UK Coaching ‘Duty to Care’: I am proud to hold the UK Coaching Digital Badge, demonstrating a verified commitment to the five pillars of the Duty to Care framework: Inclusion, Physical Wellbeing, Mental Health, Safeguarding, and Welfare.
- Ongoing CPD: I regularly engage with industry-leading events, such as the Pony Club Conference, to stay at the forefront of coaching innovation, horse welfare, and the evolving needs of the modern rider.
- Technical Certifications: Holding BHS certifications in Ride, Care, and Lunge ensures that my technical foundations have been examined and verified at a high level.
Why does this matter for your coaching journey? Because a coach who is a constant learner is better equipped to guide you through your own learning journey. These qualifications ensure that from your very first lesson, you are supported by a foundation of safety, current industry knowledge, and a genuine duty of care.
A holistic approach: beyond the saddle
While my primary role is to coach the rider, my additional professional qualifications as a groom and rider means I view the partnership as a whole. My coaching doesn’t stop at the rider’s position; it encompasses the “whole horse.”
Whether we are working on flatwork, jumping, confidence-building, a new partnership, or simply enjoying the fun of riding, my clients benefit from verified knowledge that bridges the gap between riding and stable management. This includes:
- Equine welfare & behaviour: Utilising frameworks like the Five Domains to ensure the horse is a willing partner.
- Health & fittening: Understanding the physical requirements of the equine athlete.
- Tack & equipment: Providing insight into tack suitability and fit to ensure comfort and performance.
Why technical expertise matters
Building my profile has provided me with many lessons in pushing through the “noise” of the industry. By focusing on technical expertise and organic growth, I have been able to find my audience – riders who value substance and results.
My “marketing brain” takes pride in the fact that Champion Equestrian Coaching has grown not through viral videos, but through technical results and the trust of a committed roster of private and riding school clients.
The mission
Ultimately, my goal is to nurture a partnership built on trust, respect, and mutual understanding. Whether you are a competitive rider or someone enjoying the journey at a riding school, my commitment remains the same: to provide coaching that is technically sound, ethically grounded, and always focused on the miles ahead in the saddle.
